The Flowers for Treasurer campaign issued the following statement in response to the resolution approved by the twenty (20) members of the Executive Committee of the Delaware Democratic Party on July 14, 2010, endorsing the appointed incumbent.
As expected, the small group of 20 members comprising the Executive Committee of the Delaware Democratic Party has decided to bypass the ballot box and endorse the appointed incumbent who has never received a single vote from the People of Delaware. While we respect our party leadership, this same group of individuals endorsed Gov. Markell’s opponent in his campaign two years ago and has unfortunately chosen to endorse in another highly contested race as evidenced by polls. We are confident that, on September 14, thousands of Democratic voters across the state will demonstrate that the power of ideas is indisputably stronger than the power of insider endorsements.
Now that our opponent has received some endorsements as the appointed incumbent, we sincerely hope that she now has time to schedule public debates to discuss the important economic issues facing so many Delaware families. The People of Delaware deserve more than a list of insider endorsements – they deserve a plan that will restore prosperity.
